John Dayal bags ICPA Award

Th award will be conferred on Dayal by the Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) during its 27th National Convention of Christian Journalists at Chennai, on December 10.

PANJIM: Noted journalist, writer and human rights activist John Dayal has bagged the prestigious annual Louis Careno Award for Excellence in Journalism for his bold, continuous and consistence writing against communalism and fundamentalism gaining ground globally. 

Th award will be conferred on Dayal by the Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) during its 27th National Convention of Christian Journalists at Chennai, on December 10.

“Dayal, a prophet of our times is among India’s foremost voices against human rights violations, particularly the persecution of religious minorities, having been a writer and activist for over four decades,” said ICPA President Ignatius Gonsalves in a press release.     

When contacted Dayal, a columnist in Herald, said, “It is humbling to be felicitated by old friends and new for the ICPA Award. For me, the award had meaning because it comes at a time when the profession faces great challenges from outside, and from inside.”
