VALPOI: The Legal Metrology Department and the Department of Civil Supplies conducted a surprise inspection of a vehicle supplying LPG cylinders at Vante village, on Thursday.
The inspection was conducted by legal metrology Inspector Gulam A Gulburg, civil supplies Inspector Rajesh Arlekar and Sub-Inspector Sanjyot Desai.
The inspectors checked the weights of 50 cylinders using a weighing machine, for pilferage. Of these, 20 were empty while 30 were filled; the filled cylinders had a standard weight – meaning there was no gas pilferage.
Legal Metrology Inspector Gulburg, who disclosed the surprise check to reporters, said that they did not find any fault with the cylinders.
“However, the surprise inspections of LPG cylinders in Sattari will continue,” he added.
