PANJIM: Tiger Roses defeated Women in Blue 1-0 in an exciting penalty shootout to win the 1st all Goa 5-a-side women’s football tournament, organised by Firehawks FC in association with Lazy Boys FC at Village Panchayat ground, Chicalim, recently.
The teams matched evenly throughout the final match as neither side were able to score in the regulation time. Altogether 14 teams participated in the tournament.
Earlier Verna Veterans edged past Ace Soccer Academy in men’s veterans exhibition match.
Dabolim Constituency MLA and Panchayat and Transport Minister Mauvin Godhino was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of organisers and other officials.
Following were the individual awards: Best player: Cianna Lobo; Best goalkeeper: Rhea Noronha; Top goal scorer: Nevilla Colaco; Youngest player: Walina Fernandes (11 years); First goal scorer (final): Ageema Borges.
