Two flats broken into at Ponda colony; cash, gold worth Rs 30 lakh burgled

PONDA: Two flats in a building at Friends Colony, Khadpabandh, Ponda was broken into at around 5.30 pm, on Thursday, from where cash and jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh were burgled.

According to family members, the burglars broke open the front grill and wooden door of the flat owned by Pradeep Mhalshekar and burgled jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh. Naik was reportedly at his workplace when the burglary was committed. He said that his neighbour phoned and informed him of the burglary.

The other flat belongs to one Sameer Kavlekar, where cash and jewellery worth Rs 10.50 lakh were burgled.

On receiving complaints from the respective flat owners, Ponda police pressed a finger print expert into service. 

The Friends Colony residents suspect that these were well planned burglaries.
