PANJIM: Colvale Panchayat Secretary Rajesh Naik has claimed that the allegations against him by the Colvale Sarpanch Neelam Naik and the ruling group “are baseless, frivolous and unfounded.”
He was reacting to a letter written by the Sarpanch and five other panch members stating that specific “resolutions at the fortnightly meeting on December 27, 2013 were falsely recorded.”
When the letter was placed on record at the panchayat meeting on January 30, the panchayat secretary noted that “the resolutions in question that were approved by the majority panch members, were recorded during (the) meeting on December 27, 2013, and the same were subsequently approved by the meeting held on January 10, 2014.”
“One panch member, Filomena Paul, who states that the resolutions in question have been falsely recorded by the panchayat secretary, was actually absent for the meeting on December 27, 2013.”
“All the allegations made against the panchayat secretary are baseless, frivolous and unfounded,” noted Naik.
When the matter was discussed at the panchayat meeting on January 30, Panch members Dasharath Bicholkar and Deepika Varkhandkar stated that “they did not agree with what had been written in the letter.”
According to the minutes of the panchayat meeting, Bicholkar and Varkhandkar have been recorded as stating that the “secretary has been writing the proceedings on the spot while the meeting is on and is also recording all the proceedings before starting the meeting.”
“The decision has been taken by the majority panch members…not to take action on the illegal scrap yards and the proposer and seconder are the majority panch members,” states the minutes of the panchayat meeting.
