PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for reducing Goods and Service Tax (GST) rates on 23 goods and services items.
“Good news for common man as well as the economy as more common use items receive GST rate cuts,” Parrikar tweeted.
“Thanks to PM Shir @narendramodi ji and FM Shri @arunjaitley ji for this welcome step,” he stated.
GST council on Saturday reduced tax rates on 23 goods and services, including movie tickets, TV and monitor screens and power banks, and exempted frozen and preserved vegetables from the levy. The reduced rates are likely to come into effect from January 1.
The reduction in tax rates comes amidst widespread resentment among the people over high rate of tax on goods and services, since the introduction of Goods and Services Tax.
