It is good enough to shame any food
festival happening in the state during any time of the year. The Goa Food and
Music Festival is offering a plethora of food options for all – the picky one,
the all eater and the tummy tucker. Right from American Hamburgers, to Thai
Satay and from Lip smackin’ Lucknowi food to our good ol’ Goan delicacies,
everything is on offer at the three-day festival being held at Parade Ground in
Campal.
To the extreme end of the left hand side
row of food stalls is ‘Firangi Nawab’ offering authentic Lucknowi food. One may
opt from options like Ajwani Fish Tikka, Jhinga-e-Zaitoon, Awadhi Mutton Sheekh
Kebab and many more. Catering to the American cuisine lovers is the stall of Route
66 with their signature ‘Original Hamburger’. Also available are Route 66 BBQ
Bacon Burgers, Cajun Chicken Pizza and other American delicacies. In close
proximity to the Route 66 stall is the Anandashram stall where the intoxicating
aroma of Crab Xec Xec, Mori Xacuti and Tisreo Sukha is satisfying everyone who
is a die-hard lover of Goan cuisine. On the right hand side row, Janet and
John’s that specialises in seafood and Goan cuisine is offering Golden Fried
Calamari and Prawns and Masala or Rawa fried fish.
For someone who is big on grilled food,
Hungry Hatz is making its presence felt with its specialty in grilled food
items. Proprietor Elvis Fernandes says, “The Grilled Mutton Chops have been
received really well along with Chicken Satay. The response from the people on
Friday, despite being the first day of the festival, surpassed our
expectations. Herald is doing a good job by organising such events where there
is something for everyone.” Also, tucked in a corner is the stall of Heidi’s
Beer Garden who are offering international beers along with specialty German
sausages and German hot dogs.
Rubbing shoulders with veteran chefs and
catering professionals at the event are students of IAM Institute of Hotel
Management supported by their Food and Beverage lecturer, Praveen Bansal. From
Chicken Kathi rolls to Paneer Shahlik with Mint Chutney, the students are
preparing multiple dishes and attracting the visitors to try them. Bansal says,
“This is an excellent opportunity for the students to test their management and
culinary skills.” One of the students, Priyakshi Jozowar adds, “It is important
for us to have an exposure like this where we can interact with people whilst
displaying our talent. It is good exposure for the college too.”
All in all, the Goa Food and Music Festival
organised by Herald Group is proving to be the ‘must-not miss’ event in town
and if you want to make the most of your Sunday, head to the Parade Ground
in Campal, Panjim to catch the action on
the concluding day of the festival today.
