MARGAO: Come August 15, students of sixth and seventh standard will receive net pads instead of i-pads as Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announced on Saturday that the scheme will be launched from Independence Day.
He further said that Education department will also deliver computer laptops to all Std XI students very soon.
Addressing students and teachers of Rosary High School, Navelim, after inaugurating the Science exhibition vehicle organised by Diocesan Society of Education and Department of Science and technology, Parrikar said the net pads will be pre-loaded with programmes and would help impart education to the students. “Initially, the government had announced to distribute i-pads to the sixth and seventh Std students, but now we have found that the tabs don’t last long. We have inquired and found out that the net pads are of good quality. They are loaded with general programmes, but later programmes specific to Goa can be loaded for the benefit of the students,” he said.
The Chief Minister complimented the students of Rosary High School for the experiments they conducted at the venue, saying the science exhibition vehicle will help the student community.
In his address, Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado said that the science exhibition vehicle will take science to the door steps of the people.
Secretary of Diocesan Secretary of Education, Fr Zepherino D’Souza complimented the Chief Minister for mooting the science expo.
