OLD GOA: Stating that the government is committed to cater to the needs of the people of Divar, Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar informed that his government has a vision to convert Divar into a model village by providing all facilities in the field of education, health, sports, etc, on par with the cities.
Parsekar was speaking after inauguration of the rural medical dispensary at Sao Mathias panchayat, Divar, on Sunday.
Speaking further, Parsekar said with the opening of the RMD the people of Divar will now get a full-time doctor along with staff and a full-time pharmacy, thereby fulfilling a long-pending demand of villagers.
“The demand of round-the-clock ambulance for Divar will also be met as the government will permanently post at Divar one of the six ambulances requisitioned for the Lusofonia Games, after the games conclude,” he added.
On the demand for beautification of the area around the panchayat, Parsekar advised panchayat authorities to apply for the Deendayal scheme, under which the government has decided to provide Rs 1 crore, and utilize the amount for building facilities like children’s park, garden, etc.
Parsekar also praised Divar for producing great personalities who have excelled in their chosen field. “In my department itself, two stalwarts from Divar are working namely Deputy Director of Health Dr De Sa and Joint Director of Accounts (Health) Ulhas Mardolkar,” he stated while informing that Sanjith Rodrigues is another officer hailing from Divar, in whom the chief minister has great faith due to his capabilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Sao Mathias Sarpanch Gurudas Bhomkar said with the opening of the RMD, one of the long-pending dreams of the Divar villagers has been fulfilled. “The building for the RMD was constructed by spending Rs 10 lakh provided under the Golden Jubilee Fund,” he added.
