PANJIM, JAN 2
Slamming the government for creating more and more posts in the department despite the financial meltdown, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party today charged that the Congress-ruled government is not at all serious about the issue.
‘Every cabinet meeting hundreds of posts are being sanctioned despite the government reeling under debt due to the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission,’ Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar said here today.
‘When you have increased the retirement age of the employees from 58 to 60 why do you need to recruit more people?’ he asked. He said Centre’s and states revenues are down due to global meltdown and that the revenue out of tourism is also down due to the terror threat.
Pointing out the resentment among the Goa Civil Services officers Parrikar said the Sixth pay commission recommendations were not implemented in a proper manner.
There are lot of cases of discrepancies in the implementation, he said.
Also, he said, the Centre had recommended paying the arrears from January 2006 to September 2008 in two installments while the State has decided to credit the entire arrears to GPF with three year lock in period.
