The Bharatiya Janata party today demanded that the government come out clear on the Mhadei issue before leading an all party delegation to New Delhi.
Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar said that the government has fixed the meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on January 5 but is yet to come out clear and discuss the matter with the opposition and other parties.
‘We had demanded a White Paper from the government on the issue until that we cannot join the delegation,’ he said ‘we don’t want to go to PM and just stand there, we need to know the government stand first.’
To a question on discussing the issue with Karnataka Chief Minister, Parrikar said, ‘the State has approached the Supreme Court for appointing a tribunal and the government at the Centre is of Congress then why should we talk to Karnataka CM?’
‘We need to know what the advocates appointed by the government have done so far,’ he said.
He said the appointment date of January 5 is not convenient for the BJP since the State Legislative Assembly is likely to be held from February 2 and we need to prepare ourselves for the same. ‘If they want us to come then they should discuss the convenient time,’ he said.
Meanwhile, Parrikar said his party would grill the government over several issues in the forthcoming assembly session.
‘Casinos, Regional Plan 2021, terror threat and government action, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), mega projects, uncontrollable migration, contract labour, rise in crime rate and sixth pay commission are some of the issue we will take up in the assembly,’ he said.
