Ryan handed over to police for two days

PANJIM: Ryan Fernandes, charged with assaulting a home guard doing duty at Altinho, was on Saturday remanded to two days police custody for custodial interrogation.

PANJIM:  Ryan Fernandes, charged with assaulting a home guard doing duty at Altinho, was on Saturday remanded to two days police custody for custodial interrogation. Panjim police, investigating the case under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) and 245 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code, is likely record the victim’s statement on Monday. 
Fernandes, on Friday morning allegedly manhandled and assaulted home guard Amrish Naik at the junction near the Portuguese consulate, Altinho. 
Speaking to Herald, Naik said that Fernandes ‘pushed, kicked and slapped’ him when he told the latter to remove the vehicle parked in the no parking zone. The incident occurred at around 9.45am when vehicles of judges, lawyers and the litigants take that route to reach the High Court of Bombay at Goa, located a few meters away. 
The accused was arrested late Friday evening and produced before the local court on Saturday where he was sent to police custody for two days. 
Police are also probing if the accused has been booked in similar or other offences in the past.
