AGASSAIM: Young Boys of Tonca defeated Sateri Sports Club 2-1 in an enthralling Goa Football Association’s Second Division League fixture played at Agassaim ground, on Thursday.
The hard working Tonca side managed to draw first blood as their captain Salu Santos opened scoring in the 18th minute.
It was Vinay Fateparkar who scored for Young Boys of Tonca in the 32nd minute to give his side a two-goal advantage.
The Tonca side managed to defend their lead as the teams went into the breather with the scores reading 2-0 in their favour.
Post resumption, rejuvenated Sateri SC started attacking from the start in order to make amends for their previous mistakes and managed to pull a goal back in the 71st minute through Latish Kunkolikar’s strike.
In another match played at DSYA Village Panchayat ground, Quitula, Candolim SC and Pilerne SC played out a 2-2 draw.
Nikhil Naik opened the scoring for the Candolim side in the 16the minute. Thereon, the match was mostly restricted to midfield play with either of the teams failing to score.
Post resumption, the Candolim side further inflated the lead through Nehal Naik in the 64th minute. With a 2-0 lead the Candolim side resorted to defending tactics in oirder to protect their citadel.
However a few defensive lapses cost them as Pundalik Naik narrowed the scores in the 70th minute while Viraj Malik scored a late equaliser in the injury time to steal a point from Candolim SC.
Meanwhile, Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club and Xetrapal Sports Club played out a drab draw, at Sirsaim ground.
