MASHEM: Mandovi Pariwar defeated title contenders Mashem Cricket Club by 8 wickets to emerge as champions in the 8th Canacona T-20 cricket tournament organised by Polem Sports Club, at Nirakar ground, Mashem, on Sunday.
Batting first, Mashem Cricket Club posted 121 for 8 runs in allotted 20 overs with Santosh Satarkar top scoring with 46 runs. Sandesh Velip picked up 3 wickets for Mandovi Pariwar.
In reply, Man-of-the-match Mahendra Velip hammered unbeaten 64 as Mandovi Pariwar chased down the target with 4 overs to spare and had 8 wickets in hand.
The winners were awarded Rs 25,000 and a trophy while Mashem CC had to be content with Rs 15,000. Dr. Venkatesh Prabhudesai, vice-president of Goa Cricket Association was the chief guest and handed over the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
