PANJIM: Sporting Clube continued their fine form in GFA U-14 league as they overpowered Fr Angel Youth, Pilar 10-0, at Don Bosco ground, here, on Tuesday.
Shanon Viegas was once again the star of the match as he netted five out of the ten scored by Sporting Clube. Anthony Fernandes added two goals while Leon Souza, Ebon Noronha and Heraht Thanit secured a goal each.
The first goal was scored by Anthony in the very second minute and than Shanon unleashed his fury, netting three goals before the half time.
Shanon started the second half from where he stopped and added two more himself and setting up another one. Leon, Ebon, Heraht and Anthony added one each in the second half.
Candolim Sports Club got the better of Kelbai Sports Club 3-1 at Quitula ground.
Candolim SC scored through Afton Dsouza in the 18th minute.
Crossing over, Kelbai SC equalized in the 49th minute through Keshav Aroskar.
After several missed chances, Candolim SC fired in two goals in the 58th minute through Afton D’Souza and in the 70th minute through Anuj Kuttikar.
Eagles Sports Club, Sanquelim registered a hard fought 1-0 win over Arpora Sporting Club, at St Anthony’s church ground.
The all-important goal for the Sanquelim lads was scored from a goal mouth melee by Sheryas Naik in the 12th minute.
In the next match, St. Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna registered a convincing 2-0 win over St. Christopher SC, Tivim. Sandeep Pombhurphekar netted a brace, scoring in the 29th and 48th minutes.
At University ground, Taleigao, FC Goa played a thrilling 2-2 draw against Dempo SC.
The teams played attacking football right from the word go and FC Goa was the first to come close to scoring after Valington Carvalho hit the post from an acute angle, picking up a pass from Rueben Castelino.
Later, it was Dempo SC’s turn to attack and they came close from a free-kick but FC Goa keeper punched the ball over the crossbar.
In the second half, FC Goa took the lead in the fifth minute when Chadel Fernandes struck a beautiful volley from nearly 40-yards which caught the Dempo SC custodian by surprise as the ball crashed into the net.
Dempo SC fought right back and scored two goals but FC Goa bounced back and scored the equalizer from a penalty kick as Dempo player handled the ball inside the penalty area to make it 2-2.
FC Goa had a glorious opportunity in the dying minutes to walk away with three points but Valington Carvalho shot wide with only the rival custodian at his mercy.
At Cansaulim ground, AA de Majorda defeated CAC Cansaulim by 3-2.
Defender of AA de Majorda brought down Shawn Abranches in the 22nd minute and the match referee awarded a penalty for CAC Cansaulim which Shawn Abranches shot wide.
However, Shawn soon made amends in the 25th minute as he made a daunting run in the AA de Majorda territory and slammed a powerful grounder which sailed into the nets of AA de Majorda.
After changing sides, shot deflected off Seldon Pereira of AA de Majorda which made the score line 2-0.
However, Nevile Dias of AA de Majorda collected the ball from Sanford Colaco, dribbled a couple of defenders and scored to make it 2-1 in the 40th minute.
Soon, AA de Majorda made it 2-2 through Sanford Colaco but Lucky Savita scored the match-winner for AA de Majorda in the 67th minute of a supply by Joel Ferrao.
In another match, Cortalim Gymkhana gained a walkover as Baina SC failed to report.
