Salgaocar set for Churchill challenge

Salgaocar Sports Club are confident they can come out unscathed when they meet defending champions Musli Power Churchill Brothers in the ONGC 3rd I-League match at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Sunday.
Salgaocar will encounter a strong challenge from Churchill Brothers, who need a victory to keep their hopes for the title alive.
Salgaocar may have not produced some spectacular performance but they have shown marked improvement under new Moroccan coach Karim Bencherifa. There is new confidence and the coach draw solace from the fact that his boys managed to pull out an upset victory over table toppers Dempo.
“The match is very important and I’m confident that the boys will rise to the occasion. We are looking forward to the tie against Churchill,” Bencherifa told Herald on Saturday. “Churchill are a strong side, but we will play to win,” Karim added.
“I have great respect for Churchill Brothers.They have a balanced team and are a very set side. After their defeat against Kuwait Sporting Club in the AFC Cup in Kuwait, they will be motivated to turn the tide by going all out for a win,” said Karim.
Salgaocar will be missing experienced goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey who stands suspended while striker Keita will return.
Churchill Brothers coach Carlos Pereira doest not have suspension or injury worries. “We are confident of notching a win and moving up but Salgaocar cannot be taken lightly,” said Carlos.
An injured Naoba Singh is the only worry for Churchill Brothers but the coach said the final call will be taken only on the next morning.
