PANJIM: Bicholim Boys, Bicholim showed good skills to overcome Valpoi Spartans 4-1 and emerge champions in the final of season’s first football tournament organized by Goan Welfare Society, Dubai-UAE at Pro Sports Al Qouz, Dubai, recently.
Valpoi Sports and Cultural Club finished third.
Abbas Mirza, leading the Bicholim Boys topped the group by defeating Jolly Tiger Golden Team and Kings XI, Mapusa.
In the quarters, they outplayed MCC and in semi-final got the better of Valpoi Sports and Cultural Club.
Chief guest Abdul Rehman Mulam, chairman of Oxford Marine and Romeen Mullam, President of Goan Welfare Society distributed the prizes in the presence of Sports Committee Head Rafik Shaik, Sport Secretary Feeroz Amid Shaik and Sport Coordinator Riyaz Khan.
Player of the tournament was awarded to Fardeen Shaikh and best goalkeeper was Rahmat Mulla (both Bicholim Boys).
Altogether 12 Goan teams participated.
