Banyan tree collapses on house, family unhurt

MAPUSA: 150 years old huge banyan tree uprooted and collapsed on the house near Sakhleshwar Temple, Siolim, on Friday.

The loss is estimated at Rs 3 lakh.

According to the sources, around 1.20 am, a huge banyan tree uprooted and fell on the house owned by temple priest of Sakhleshwar Temple damaging the entire roof of the house. Fortunately, the family of the temple priest escaped unhurt.

Mapusa Fire Station personnel later chopped the branches and cleared the house roof with the help of local youth.
