3 houses damaged at Bandora, Khandola

PONDA: Strong winds accompanied by heavy rainfall wrecked havoc in the Ponda Taluka damaging three houses at Bandora and Khandola.

Ponda Fire Station received around 15 calls of tree uprooting incidents in various parts causing damages to property and electric poles disrupting power supply.

On Friday night, a huge mango tree crashed on a house of one Shushant Gaude, near Bhagawati Temple, Haldanwada-Khandola, which also damaged another house. However, the family members escaped unhurt.

In another incident, a teak tree damaged the house of one Sandeep Gaude, at Mahalaxmi, Bandora.

Ponda fire personnel cleared the trees. Besides, the trees which fell on the power lines, one poultry farm, garage etc were also cleared.

Following the incidents, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude inspected the damaged houses.

He assured to provide immediate relief through tribal fund.
