MARGAO: Unknown miscreants dumped truck load of electric waste comprising of tube lights along the road leading to the famous Seven Temples at Veroda-Cuncolim.
The incident is believed to have occurred on Wednesday noon when a truck unloaded the tube lights at the different places before speeding away from the spot. The truck was spotted by a woman coming through the fields before the news spread in the locality.
Social activist Ronny Dias said the waste was found at three different sites along the road leading to the Seven Temples. “I visited the spot on Thursday morning, only to find the electric waste dumped at the spot. The authorities should initiate action by lifting away the waste from the spot”, he said.
Though the waste was found dumped a day ago, locals said it was not lifted from the site till Thursday evening by Cuncolim Municipal Council.
Locals feel that the waste was dumped by miscreants known to the place since the area is an isolated area away from habitation.
