PANJIM: The Save Old Goa Action Committee (SOGAC) met with Deputy Chief Minister and Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Friday regarding their grievances over the ongoing construction project near a protected monument in their village and heritage zone.

At the meeting, they pointed out alleged irregularities that the TCP Department and its Conservation Committee have allegedly aided and abetted in regard to the controversial project.
It may be recalled that the SOGAC has filed a writ petition against the project in the Supreme Court.
A list of current and former TCP officers, who have been party to the alleged fraud, were also submitted to the minister.
“The incorrect advice and lack of understanding of the law by the so-called ‘technical members’ of the Conservation Committee was also exposed. It is noted that four of the technical members continue to serve on the reconstituted Conservation Committee under the present administration as well,” the SOGAC members said.
“This is the first of several expositions after which all the government servants who have partaken in corruption to grant fraudulent permission and destroy evidence thereafter will be exposed. We are also in communication with the criminal advocates and are considering legal action against the errant officers,” they added.
