Central Zone Comunidade Panjim has issued notices to its nine occupants of the shops within its building to pay the pending dues and to sign the new lease agreement at the rates notified by the Government.
Administrator of the Central Zone Comunidade Panjim Kapil Phadte has issued the notice last week giving 15 days time to shops to pay the rent that has pending for many years.
Even with the minimum rent of the shops that are owned by Comunidade the pending dues are approximately Rs 20 lakhs.
Nine shops, including a popular book stall whose agreement expired in October 1965 according to Comunidade, have Rs 3.51 lakh dues.
Phadte said that the shops’ lease agreement has expired from the period ranging from 1965 to 1996. The agreement was neither extended nor entered into a new lease at revised rates as notified by the Government of Goa.
“Failing to which you shall be deemed to be an illegal occupant of the said premises and eviction proceedings shall be instituted against you as per provision of law”, the notice read.
