PANJIM: Goa Forward spokesperson Milton Marques, who was summoned by Anjuna Police on Monday in the ongoing investigation into the sexual harassment case, sought time to depose, in view of the feast of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa.
Marques, also the Verla-Canca Sarpanch, requested the police to call him on ‘any convenient day for recording the statement.’
“He told us that he was attending the feast at Old Goa on Monday and is unable to appear. He had made a request for being called on any convenient day to record his statement and we will issue fresh summons,” Anjuna PI C L Patil said.
The police have recorded statements of about four to five persons in connection with the case.
Anjuna Police are investigating a case under Sections 354 (A) (iv) (sexual harassment), 509 (words or gesture to insult modesty of a woman), 500 (defamation) of Indian Penal Code against activist Advocate Aires Rodrigues, following a woman’s complaint accusing him of circulating an alleged video footage on Facebook and WhatsApp, linking her with Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar.
In the video, where Rodrigues has been confronted on the release of picture, he is repeatedly heard saying that the video of the alleged sex scandal was shared by one Milton.
He, however, did not mention any surname in the footage, which thereafter went viral followed by a complaint at Anjuna police station and counter complaint at Old Goa police station.
