Mauli Temple hall destroyed due to Kalsa Bhandura work

BICHOLIM: A large portion of the Mauli Temple hall in Kankumbi, Karnataka, collapsed on Saturday due to the digging work of the Kalsa Bhandura canal.

Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar has expressed concern over the issue, but added that the Karnataka Nirawari Nigam (KNN), which is undertaking the work on war footing, had assured to reconstruct the damaged temple hall.
It may be recalled that the villagers of Kankumbi have been consistently opposing the construction of the Kalsa Bhandura canal due to the threat to the Mauli Temple, besides many other ill effects to the village.
