MARGAO: Concerned about potential health hazards, residents of Fatorda have expressed anger over the continuous dumping of garbage behind the KTC bus stand in Margao and have demanded an immediate halt to the practice.
They have even threatened to take the matter to court if the garbage is not removed from the site within the next month.

Residents a have warned the civic body of an agitation and legal action if the dumping of garbage at this site is not stopped immediately. “The site has become another Sonsoddo, with garbage being dumped here regularly. This poses a high risk of health hazards for the area’s residents, particularly during the monsoon season,” said Madel local Milagres Fernandes.
He questioned how the municipality could engage in dumping waste at this location without considering the consequences. “The problems at the Sonsoddo dump site have not been resolved, and now the civic body is creating another Sonsoddo, in a busy residential area. This not only causes problems for the residents of Madel, Fatorda, but also ruins the image of the town. There is a fear that wells in the vicinity will be contaminated if this wanton dumping of garbage continues,” he added.
