PANJIM, JAN 2
The Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has assured that no injustice would be done to officers of Goa Civil Services and that the matter pertaining to their grievances would be re-examined in the light of certain new documents which were submitted to the Government by Goa Civil Service Officers Association (AOGCSO).
The chief minister further said that the issue would be resolved to the satisfaction of the parties concerned in the shortest possible time, according to an official press release.
He made the statement to the delegation of AOGCSO when it called on him last evening.
After discussing the issue with the Chief Secretary J P Singh and Finance Secretary, the delegation headed by Association president Mihir Vardhan, later had a meeting with the chief minister. The main issue was rectification of erroneous fixation of pay scale of Jr Scale officers of the Goa Civil service.
The officers presented their say in the matter and requested the Government to resolve the grievances of the Junior Scale officers which was caused on account of misinterpretation of Pay Fixation Rules by the Government, while implementing the sixth pay commission scales.
The AOGCSO is agitated due the reduction of pay scales of Junior Grade officers, which the members say has been done by wrongly interpreting the conditions of the 6th Pay Commission. This is affected 60 to 65 officers. Besides, other issues, as reported yesterday, were raised.
These included downgrading or upgrading certain posts and getting officers from outside the Goa civil services cadre on posts where only Goa civil service officers were posted.
Chaired by the Chief Minister, the special meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary, President of the Association. Mihir Vardhan, Secretary Prasad Lolienkar, Swapnil Naik, Vijay Paranjapee, Sanjit Rodrigues among others.
Earlier, the Association had given the governmnet an ultimatum to settle their grievances by January 9, failing which they would be forced to take action like mass casual leaves etc.
