PONDA: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday stated that his government is planning to implement a scheme for the professional college students wherein stipend will be paid to students during their first three years of their internship.
Parrikar was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the youth week celebration, organised by the department of sports and youth affairs at Kranti Maidan, Ponda.
In a bid to tackle growing unemployment especially among the dropouts, Parrikar also informed that the government has decided to make 15-year domicile certificate compulsory for those engaged as security guards in the State.
According to information, a majority of security guards employed in the state are from other states.
Parrikar also said that the government is planning a special loan scheme so that people can start their own businesses, instead of merely looking for government jobs.
Others present at the function included PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar and Director of Transport Arun Dessai.
