The complaint to the Director of Transport Arun Dessai alleges that this amounts to gross contempt of the Supreme Court’s order over the misuse of the red beacon by politicians.
Pointing out that in accordance with the Supreme Court order the Goa Government by a notification issued on 3rd July last year notified the list of persons entitled to display the red beacon on their official vehicle, the complainant Aires Rodrigues alleged that as per that notification only certain officials are allowed to use the red beacon and that Sawaikar does not come under that category.
using the red beacon, the complainant submitted to the Director a photograph showing Narendra Sawaikar standing with his official vehicle fitted with the red beacon at the doorsteps of a temple in South Goa.
