With ten COVID-19 cases, Indiranagar in Chimbel has been declared a micro-containment zone and buffer zone. This is the fifth such zone declared after Baina, Sada and Zuaringar in Vasco and Moti Dongor in Margao. Mangor Hill in Vasco and Goddemal in Sattari are containment zones. North Goa Collector R Menaka, in an order issued on Wednesday, declared part of Indiranagar as a micro-containment zone, while the remaining part a buffer zone for being vulnerable to the spread of COVID.
An eight-member Rapid Response Team, headed by Tiswadi Deputy Collector, has been constituted to investigate the outbreak and initiate control measures.
The Indirangar area has reported 10 positive cases, while neighbouring Xerent, which had 21 cases, was also declared micro-containment zone.
The North Goa Collector has ordered sealing of the micro-containment zone and banned movement of people in or out of the area except for medical emergencies and for supply of essential goods and services.
