MARGAO: PWD Minister Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavlikar has suggested that the Margao municipal garden must be named after Jack Sequeira while speaking at the Ring Road foundation stone ceremony in Margao.
When Herald asked him whether he would consider naming the Zuari Bridge or Mandovi Bridge after Bahusaheb Bandodkar, he said that naming the bridge is the decision of the Central Government since it is a central government project.
Herald asked him again that would his government consider sending a request to the Central Government to rename the Zuari and Mandovi Bridges after the Opinion poll heroes, Jack Sequeira and Bahusaheb Bandodkar, Dhavalikar said he would not.
Herald also asked Dhavalikar whether the contractor of the Zuari bridge is running out of time to complete the project and that is why the Goa government wants to acquire land to divert the traffic. Dhavalikar evaded the question by stating that as per the contract, the State government has to remove all hindrances for the construction work.
