Verma, Amonkar put Goa ahead

PORVORIM: A 204-run partnership between Amit Verma and Sumiran Amonkar put Goa on course for a big total against Jharkhand in their 2018-19 Ranji Trophy Elite Group C round four match at Porvorim.
At stumps on day one, the hosts were 237/2 with Verma batting on 131 and Amonkar 84 not out.
The pair was joined at the fall of Goa captain Sagun Kamat for 11 in the 24th over, at which point the score was 33/2.
Amonkar batted his way to 84 off 259 balls, hitting 13 fours, while Verma’s hundred spanned 208 balls and featured 18 fours and two sixes.
This is the 12th first-class hundred for former Karnataka batsman Verma, 31. Amonkar, in his 16th match, is 16 runs short of his third hundred.
