PONDA: Cooperation Minister Subash Shirodkar on Monday evening held a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Goa Dairy and set a target to increase milk production from 48,000 to one lakh litres per day.
Shirodkar stated that plans are afoot for Goa Dairy revival and that it was ready to face any challenges from rivals.

He later inspected the ilk production plant. The meeting was attended by Goa Dairy Chairman Rajesh Faldesai, the Board of Directors and heads of various departments of Goa Dairy. Shirodkar further said that Goa Dairy milk is popular and there is tremendous demand for it.
“To achieve the milk production target, we will procure additional milk from neighbouring States and farmers will be given incentives to increase milk production. Special schemes and subsidies will be provided to the farmer to purchase quality milch animals from neighbouring States,” said Animal Husbandry Minister Nilkant Halarnkar.
He said cattle feed will be produced at government farms and the Water Resources Department would provide sufficient water supply through digging pits.
He also said that Rs 8 cr received by Goa Dairy from National Dairy Development Board was deposited in PMC Bank for better returns of interest however as this bank become bankrupt, the same money has been converted into shares and Goa Dairy can claim this money any time.
