PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday granted conditional bail to Mahendra Tanawde, one of the accused arrested in the attempt to murder case of history-sheeter Anwar Shaikh alias Tiger.

Justice Nitin Sambre granted bail on grounds that Section 212 of the Indian Penal Code was a bailable offence and prosecution had no material to connect the accused, represented by Adv C A Ferreira and team, with crime under Section 120-B IPC.
Tanawde had approached the High Court after the Additional Sessions Court, Margao rejected bail applications of seven accused including the petitioner.
Shaikh had lodged a complaint that on February 16 at Arlem Junction, a group assaulted him with deadly weapons. Two accused are still absconding and some weapons are yet to be recovered.
