New Engg College proposed in Goa

A five-member expert committee of the Directorate of Technical Education will soon carry out inspection into various parameters and submit a report to the State Government for the purpose of granting a no-objection certificate (NOC) to Fatorda Salesian Society which has made a proposal for a new degree-level engineering college in Fatorda.
Sources said there are no fixed parameters and the expert committee will look into important aspects like land earmarked for the project, plans, etc., and submit a detailed report to the Government for the purpose of granting NOC.
They mentioned the decision of the State Government will then be communicated to All India Council of Technical Education which will also carry out inspection to accord a go-ahead to the society for the college.
In its proposal to the Director AICTE, Western Regional Office, Mumbai, have applied for a new degree college offering Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
The proposal states the site for the college is located at Fatorda falling under Margao municipal limit and the same is spread over an area of 49,500 square metres in one spot.
Goa has three engineering colleges – government-run Goa Engineering College at Farmagudi and the others are private-run colleges at Shiroda and Verna.
Meanwhile, the Academy of Culinary Education based at Cidade de Goa in Dona Paula has made a proposal to the DoTE for offering AICTE-approved diploma course in hotel management with specialisation in culinary education.
Officials confirmed ACE had submitted a proposal and the state-level committee will finalise a report and submit the same to the Western Regional Office of AICTE in Mumbai.
They mentioned when it comes to degree-level courses the AICTE directly takes a decision but in case of diploma courses it allows the state-level committee to send a final report to it.
