MARGAO, APRIL 21 — St Sebastian Union Sports Club underlined their fighting qualities when they came from behind to defeat Tilamol United Sports Club 2-1 to enter the semi-finals of GFA’s Under-16 League in the Inter Zone football tournament played at Nehru stadium, Fatorda on Monday.
The Benaulim lads were trailing 0-1 at the breather.
Tilamol put up a doughty display to take the fight to the rival camp. Tilamol held sway over their opponents and showed urgency in their attack and repeatedly attacked the rival citadel but could not score due to inept shooting by their forwards.
They reached the rival penalty area but their moves fizzled out at crucial moments.
Tilamol showed promise and forged ahead in the 37th minute. Striker Torren Dias beat the Benaulim goalkeeper hands down when he unleashed a right footer to the right of goalkeeper off a cross from Joel Menezes.
Tilamol continued to hold sway and missed some scoring chances when striker Torren Dias try hit the right post much to the dismay of Tilamol supporters.
Benaulim nearly struck the equaliser at the stroke of lemon break when Elbino Fernandry hit the cross bar much to the disappointment of Benaulim bench.
Crossing over, St Sebastain found their way back into the game by scoring the equaliser soon when Johnson Menezes snap shot from outside the box was pared away by Tilamol Goalkeeper Joston Cardozo, Tilamo defenders waited to clear the ball and striker Bittu Singh without wasting his time punt the ball to the far corner of the net.
Bittu Singh showed his class when he saw rival goalkeeper moved out his charge and unleashed a right footer which crashed into the net to emerge as worthy winner in the 71st minute.
Stung the reverse, Tilamol regrouped quickly and came twice in scoring but Seriton Fernandes erratic shooting inside the box let down Tilamol fall, as he spurn two easy scoring chances.

St Sebastian Sports Club, Fatorda registered an emphatic win over Siolim Sodiem Sports Club 4-0 in the quarter-finals of Gouveia Memorial Cup, at Colvale church grounds, on Sunday.
