RAIA: Defending champions Bethany Convent High School downed St Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor, 2-0 to clinch the 2nd All-Goa Inter-School football tournament organised by St Joseph’s Ex Students Association, Chandor, at Chandor church ground, recently.

Ayan Sheikh of St Joseph’s Educational Institute missed a golden opportunity to give the lead but he lobbed the ball over the Bethany Convent HS’ crossbar.
St Joseph’s Educational Institute boys playing on their home ground brought pressure on the Bethany Convent HS boys and had a chance to move ahead but Reldon shot wide from the goal area.
At half time, the teams were levelled 0-0.
After the breather, in the 28th minute, the man-of-the-match Josley Gomes of Bethany Convent HS was dangerously brought down in the box by the St Joseph’s Educational Institute defender and penalty was awarded. Josley made no mistake to give Bethany Convent HS their first goal.
St Joseph’s Educational Institute boys tried hard for an equaliser but it eluded them. Josley scored again to give Bethany Convent HS the trophy.
Chief guest Fr Jean Cruz Fernandes, guest of honour Headmistress of St Joseph Educational Institute Ciete D’Cunha gave away the prizes in the presence of President of Goa Table Tennis Association Sudin Verenkar, Guirdolim Sarpanch Sonia Fernandes, Chandor Sarpanch Estefanio Dias, former Deputy Director of Sports and President of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott John Fernandes, Chandor Seamen Association’s member Caetan Rebello and President of Ex Students Association Dr Surendra Verenkar.
Earlier, Vice President Egido D’Costa welcomed the gathering, while Secretary of St Joseph’s Ex Students Association Darwin Cardoso proposed a vote of thanks. Inacio Noronha was presented a memento by Vice President Egidio for his contribution to the St Joseph’s Ex Students Association.
