The Congress on Thursday expressed support for students protesting in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, with senior party leader Rahul Gandhi urging governments at all levels to listen to students and undertake comprehensive reforms in the education system.
The Congress, a constituent of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government in the state, said it would continue to stand with students in their fight for justice and work towards addressing their concerns.

During an interactive “Ask Me Anything” session on Instagram, Gandhi was asked to extend his support to the ongoing student agitation in Jharkhand.
Responding to the query, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said the protests reflected growing dissatisfaction with the country’s education system.
“The student protests happening in the country are against the education system. I have said this in Kota and Dehradun, and I will repeat it in Allahabad — our education system has collapsed. It is unaffordable and oppressive,” Gandhi said.
He further stressed that all governments, irrespective of political affiliation, should take students’ concerns seriously.
“Every government, whether it is the Central government, the Jharkhand government or a Congress government, should listen to what students are saying and take action to change the education system,” he said.
The remarks come amid continuing protests in Ranchi, where students have alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and demanded transparency, accountability and fair recruitment processes. The Congress reiterated its commitment to supporting the agitating students and seeking a resolution to their grievances.
