Jharkhand Students’ Protest Intensifies As JPSC-JSSC Aspirants Clash With Police

The protest by JPSC-JSSC aspirants in Jharkhand intensified as thousands of students marching towards the state Assembly breached police barricades, prompting authorities to use water cannons, lathicharge and tear gas. Several protesters were reportedly injured during clashes near the Vidhan Sabha.

Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto, who has been on a hunger strike for nine days, joined the march on a stretcher, further highlighting the intensity of the agitation.

The protesters are demanding action over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process, including the JSSC-CGL examination. Despite six rounds of talks, the deadlock continues.

The Jharkhand government has offered a judicially monitored inquiry into the alleged irregularities but maintained that it cannot unilaterally cancel the JSSC-CGL examination. The protestors, however, have continued their agitation.
