GHRC Pulls Up Goa Co-op Bank Over ₹7.13 Lakh Retirement Benefit Delay

The Goa Human Rights Commission has pulled up the Goa State Co-operative Bank over the delayed release of ₹7.13 lakh in retirement benefits.

The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has pulled up the Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd over an alleged delay in releasing ₹7.13 lakh in retirement benefits to a former official. The Commission directed the bank to pay ₹10,000 as costs to the affected retiree.

The GHRC noted that the official was discharged by the Sessions Court in January 2025, yet the bank allegedly continued to withhold the funds despite repeated representations. Although the lien on the amount was eventually cancelled and the funds were cleared in July 2026, the Commission said the prolonged deprivation amounted to a violation of human rights.
