The Congress and Trinamool Congress have accused the poll panel of irregularities, particularly in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Election Commission and the BJP have rejected the allegations.

According to BJP leaders quoted in the report, the party is increasing its outreach to counter claims of electoral irregularities and large-scale voter deletions. The party has also defended the SIR process, describing it as a legal mechanism to identify discrepancies in electoral rolls.
BJP MP Sambit Patra cited results from constituencies with high numbers of voter deletions to challenge the Opposition’s allegations. Meanwhile, some BJP allies have called for greater clarity from the Election Commission over the ongoing controversy.
