India launched a fierce diplomatic counter-offensive against Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly, directly responding to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address. Exercising India’s right to reply, Indian diplomat Petal Gehlot dismissed Sharif’s remarks as “bizarre” and called out Islamabad’s deep-rooted hypocrisy regarding terrorism and human rights.
Targeting Pakistan’s track record on sheltering global terrorists, Gehlot reminded the international community of past events, most notably the discovery of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden living just doors away from Pakistan’s premier military academy. “Pakistan claims to uphold security by day and perpetrates terrorism by night,” she stated, warning Islamabad that continued aggression will face direct repercussions.

“We demonstrated last year that terrorists will have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. Our right to defend ourselves against terrorism will be exercised. And continued terrorism by Pakistan will have consequences,” Gehlot asserted.
The sharp response followed Sharif’s 23-minute UNGA speech, in which he once again raised the Kashmir issue and credited US President Donald Trump for his alleged intervention in the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict. New Delhi has consistently rejected any third-party mediation claims. India reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is an “integral and inalienable part of India” and turned the spotlight back onto Islamabad, urging the UN to scrutinize human rights violations in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), specifically citing conditions in Rawalkot.
