Around 5,500 people have been screened across Goa under the Cancer Screening Abhiyan conducted through Goa Medical College and Hospital’s Mobile Cancer Detection Van.
The screening initiative has detected 20 cancer cases, with those diagnosed provided medical assistance. A further 96 people were identified as pre-cancer patients showing signs requiring further medical attention, particularly in relation to oral cancer.

The latest screening camp was held at the Primary Health Centre, Navelim, on Saturday, September 26, as part of efforts to promote early detection and treatment.
The programme, initiated by Navelim MLA Ulhas Y. Tuenkar, aims to encourage regular screening and ensure people with cancer and pre-cancerous conditions are referred for appropriate medical care.
