PANJIM: The State Transport Authority (STA) has notified revised fares for yellow-and-black taxis, effective from Friday.
The fare for the first 3 km is Rs 300 for hatchbacks and sedans, Rs 400 for regular SUVs and Rs 500 for premium SUVs. For journeys of 3.1 km to 8 km, the respective fares are Rs 430, Rs 560 and Rs 660. Beyond 8 km, the charge is Rs 26 per km for hatchbacks and sedans and Rs 32 per km for SUVs.

A 35 per cent surcharge applies between 11 pm and 5 am, while one-way journeys outside municipal limits attract an additional 50 per cent of the normal fare. Operators have been asked display the fares prominently in their vehicles.
The STA also notified distance-based fares for self-employed tourist taxi operators attached to beach and star hotels, effective from Friday.
The first 3 km costs Rs 300 in a hatchback or sedan, Rs 400 in a regular SUV, Rs 500 in a premium SUV and Rs 1,000 in a premium cab.
For journeys of 3.1 to 8 km, fares range from Rs 445 for a small hatchback to Rs 1,745 for a premium cab. Beyond 8 km, the per-kilometre charge ranges from Rs 29 to Rs 149, depending on the vehicle category. The notification provides for a 35% tariff surcharge and Rs 100 per hour in night charges between 11 pm and 5 am. Customers must also pay applicable tolls, ferry charges, taxes and parking fees.
