MAPUSA: Goa Velha Sports Club registered a hard fought 1-0 win over Pilerne Sports Club in the Nerul Golden Jubilee Cup, organised by Nerul Sports Club and played at Nerul ground, on Tuesday.
In the 5th minute Anson D’Souza missed an open sitter for Pilerne.
While Pilerne missed to score Goa Velha SC took the lead though Chatur Naik in the 17th minute with an excellent solo effort,1-0.
Pilerene squandered a chance to equalise in the 28th minute where Rajat Chopdekar power-packed shot sailed just over the cross bar.
On crossing over in the 38th minute Goa Velha’s Chatur Naik’s superb bicycle strike hit the cross bar.
Pilerne SC tried their best to score but they couldn’t get past the rival defence.
On Monday, Mandopa Sports Club Navelim defeated Merces Sports Club 2-1. Priestly Gomes and Travis scored for Navelim while Valencia Rodrigues pulled a goal for Merces.
