VASCO: In response to the tragic drowning of two students last year, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, along with government officials, conducted a joint inspection of the quarry on the Cansaulim-Cuelim road on Friday and instructed that it be barricaded.
During the inspection, officials noted that safety measures had been implemented. A portion of the quarry was landfilled, and effective drainage systems were established to prevent water accumulation, to reduce the risk of drowning.
The main road was barricaded to prevent unauthorised entry, and warning signs were erected to alert the public of potential dangers. “We have implemented these measures to ensure such a tragedy does not happen again,” said Vas.
