Borges is chief of Child Rights body

PANJIM: The State government has appointed Peter Borges as chairperson of the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) for a period of three years. He served as a member of the Commission from 2019-21.

The appointment order was issued by Deepali Naik, Director of Directorate of Women and Child Development.

The other six members are Pradnya Desai, Vaibhavi Gawade, Dr Anita Tilve, Neelam Naik, Balaji Mayekar and Rekha D’Silva.

 “Protecting the most vulnerable children from the impact of Coronavirus is an agenda which is foremost on my mind.  Coordination and collaboration is urgently needed to prevent this health crisis from becoming a child-rights crisis,” said Peter, who has been engaged in COVID-19 response for marginalised and vulnerable children.
