VASCO: Over a hundred CISF personnel jointly undertook rainwater harvesting and tree plantation under Jal Shakti Abhiyan on Wednesday. On August 5, mass plantation of 500 saplings will be done. CISF Sources said that on the occasion three water harvesting kuchha trenches were built. Before digging the trench, upper 5 cm layer of soil was removed, as it is the most fertile part of soil, and shifted to previously planted plants. These trenches will collect water from hand pump and kitchen etc.
The rain water harvesting system consists of plastic drums and boulders in a ditch. It will harvest rain water from roofs. A 200 litre plastic drum was made with perforations.
