PANJIM: Shri Shantadurga High School defeated Progress High School by one wicket in the inter-school Bicholim/Satteri Zone cricket tournament for the Under-14 President Cup played at Bicholim ground.
Progress High School elected to bat and scored a total of 148 runs all out in 38.3 overs.
Rishikesh Kamat with 21 runs and Rishab Naik with 43 runs contributed well for Progress. Pratik Kapardekar also contributed a useful though not significant 10 runs for Progress.
Shantadurga High School’s Yesh Khalamkar bowled well to return with economical figures taking two wickets for just 17 runs while Sahil Powar also bagged two wickets for 40 runs.
In reply Shri Shantadurga High School managed to cross Progress HS tally scoring 149 runs with one wicket still in hand. Their 149 runs for nine wickets came in 36.3 overs with a stupendous knock from Alam Khan who hit a powerful 63 runs while Yesh Khalamkar supported Alam Khan with a useful 35 runs.
Progress bowlers Vithal Petkar finished with figures of three wickets for 27 runs while Varad Sinari pocketed three wickets for a paltry 14 runs.
