D’Souza, who also holds the Health portfolio, further disclosed that the government has already moved a file for appointing ayurvedas and Homoepaths to man the health centres. “The government is facing a major shortage of doctors and experts. We are facing a shortage of surgeons, medical officers, radiologists, physicians etc in all the government run hospitals. The government has moved a file to take ayurvedas and homeopaths as a alternative for allopathic doctors to tide over the situation”, he said, while addressing a gathering at a free treatment cum awareness meet organised by Jeevan Rekhar and Sujok Therapy at the Ravindra bhavan on Friday.
The three-day camp evoked tremendous response on day one of the camp, even as the Health Minister urged the experts that has specialised in Acupressure to make a mark so that they instil faith and confidence in the common man.
Earlier, the camp was inaugurated at the hands of South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar at the hands of Ravindra bhavan chairman Damu Naik, who urged the people of Margao and Fatorda to take maximum advantage of the three day camp.
