PANJIM: The Opposition Congress on Tuesday demanded judicial inquiry into the shortage of medicines in Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim and other government hospitals.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar alleged that the home isolation kits distributed by the Health Department are short of medicines, oximeters and other components, thus endangering the lives of the innocent patients. He demanded that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane must explain to the people on shortages in the said kits.

Panjikar charged that paracetamol stock is reduced drastically in last 15 days and there are complaints of sub-standard oximeters provided in the home isolation kits for COVID-19 positive patients. Many patients have not received oximeters in their kits. This is a clear cut indication that “All is not well” in the health department, he said.
Panjikar said that the innocent people are cheated by the insensitive government, who is making fortunes from the short supplies. “They made money from oxygen cylinders. After getting exposed now they have shifted focus on home isolation kits,” he said.
Refuting the statement of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that Congress must use better tools to understand current affairs, Youth Congress president Adv Varad Mardolkar said, The exclusive rights of tool kit are with BJP who are now certified by twitter as ‘Manipulated Media’.
